East Northamptonshire is a district in the county of Northamptonshire in England . The administrative seat is the city of Thrapston . Other important places are Higham Ferrers , Irthlingborough , Oundle , Raunds and Rushden .
The district was formed on April 1, 1974 and was the result of the merger of the Municipal Borough Higham Ferrers, the Urban Districts Irthlingborough, Oundle, Raunds and Rushden, the Rural District Oundle and Thrapston and part of the Rural District Wellingborough.
