Wellingborough is an administrative district with borough status in the county of Northamptonshire in England . The administrative seat is the city of Wellingborough , in which about two thirds of the population live. Other significant places are Bozeat , Earls Barton , Irchester and Wollaston .
The district was formed on April 1, 1974 and was formed from the merger of the original Borough of Wellingborough and the Rural District Wellingborough.
