Ashfield is a district in Nottinghamshire in England . The administrative seat is the city of Kirkby-in-Ashfield . Other significant places are Annesley (locality) , Hucknall , Huthwaite and Sutton-in-Ashfield .

The district was formed on April 1, 1974 and resulted from the merger of the urban districts Hucknall, Kirkby-in-Ashfield and Sutton-in-Ashfield and part of the Rural District Basford.
