Three Rivers is a district in Hertfordshire in England , which borders Greater London and Watford . The administrative seat is Rickmansworth , other important places are Abbots Langley , Chorleywood and Maple Cross .

The district was formed on April 1, 1974 and was created from the merger of the urban districts Rickmansworth and Chorleywood and part of the rural district Watford. The name Three Rivers is derived from the three rivers Chess , Gade and Colne .

Three Rivers is served by the Metropolitan Line of London Underground ; Stops are Chorleywood , Croxley , Moor Park and Rickmansworth .
