The River Chess is a watercourse in Buckinghamshire and Hertfordshire , England . It arises in Chesham south of the metro station Chesham . It initially flows in an easterly direction. West of Sarrat it forms the border of Buckinghamshire and Hertfordshire and changes direction in a southerly direction, in which it flows into the River Colne to its confluence in the east of Rickmansworth .
