South Derbyshire is a district in the county of Derbyshire in England . The administrative seat is the city of Swadlincote ; other important places are Aston-on-Trent and Melbourne .
The district was formed on April 1, 1974 and resulted from the merger of the Urban District Swadlincote, the Rural District Repton and part of the Rural District South East Derbyshire.
