Mid Bedfordshire was a district in the county of Bedfordshire in England . The administrative seat was Ampthill .

The district was formed on April 1, 1974 and was created from the merger of the urban districts Ampthill, Biggleswade and Sandy and the rural districts Ampthill and Biggleswade. On April 1, 2009, the district were combined with the neighboring district of South Bedfordshire to form a new Unitary Authority Central Bedfordshire .
