Castle Morpeth was a district with borough status in Northumberland in England . The administrative seat was the city of Morpeth . The district also included the places Pegswood and Ponteland .
The District was formed on April 1, 1974 and was formed from the merger of Borough Morpeth, the Rural District Morpeth and part of the Rural District Castle Ward. On April 1, 2009, the administrative district was dissolved and combined with the remaining districts in Northumberland to form a single Northumberland Unitary Authority.
