Easington was a district in County Durham in England . The administrative seat was the city of Easington . Other important places were Peterlee and Seaham .
The district was formed on April 1, 1974 and resulted from the merger of the Urban District Seaham and the Rural District Easington. Easington has the lowest proportion of residents born outside the UK in the country, at 1.2%. On April 1, 2009, in addition to Easington, all Dictricts in County Durham were abolished as part of the administrative reform and merged into the Unitary Authority Durham .
