The best seven results of the first eight and the best five of the remaining six races were taken into account for the evaluation. The best placed car was taken into account in the constructors' classification.
Since the Spanish Grand Prix and the Austrian Grand Prix were canceled prematurely after less than 75% of the planned race distance, these were only included in the rating with half the number of points.

Important events of the season
- Emerson Fittipaldi boycotted the Spanish GP for safety reasons . In the race, Rolf Stommelen , while in the lead, flew into the audience because of a broken rear wing, four of whom were killed in this accident. Jochen Mass won what was to be his only victory. Lella Lombardi was the first woman to get into the points in Formula 1.
- Mark Donohue had an accident on August 17, 1975 during the warm-up for the Austrian GP in Zeltweg . The left front tire on his car burst. The rudderless March shot into the safety fences, from there onto the guardrail, slid into the embankment that followed, and crashed into a billboard. Donohue didn't seem seriously injured at first, but fell into a coma a day later and died. A marshal was also killed in the accident.
- At the end of November, the Hill team's plane crashes . Team principal and double world champion Graham Hill , who flew the plane himself, and his driver Tony Brise also died in the accident. This accident meant the end of the racing team.
