Ian Scheckter (* 22. August 1947 in East London , South Africa ) is a former South African racing driver and brother of Formula 1 world champion of 1979 , Jody Scheckter .
Career
Ian followed his brother to Europe and Formula 1 after winning the Formula Ford Sunshine Series. Ian Scheckter made his Formula 1 debut at the 1974 Grand Prix of South Africa with Team Gunston . In 1975 and 1976 he drove a few races in the Frank Williams team , in the Tyrrell of the Alex Blignaut team. In the 1977 season, Ian completed 14 of 17 races for the March team .
After his Formula 1 involvement, Ian Scheckter dominated the South African South African Formula Atlantic Championship , the successor series to the South African Formula 1 Championship , which he won six times (including four times in a row).
