Torsten Palm (born July 23, 1947 in Kristinehamn ) is a former Swedish racing driver .
Career
After early years in rallying , where he drove a private Volvo , Palm switched to the circuit in 1969 and entered Formula 3 . Together with Ronnie Peterson and Freddy Kottulinsky , he won the Formula 3 European Cup for national teams for Sweden in 1970.
In 1973, Palm rented a factory Surtees to compete in a few races for the Formula 2 European Championship . At the race in Karlskoga he reached third place. The next year he moved to GRD , a British manufacturer of Formula 3 and Formula 2 racing cars, and drove their works cars. In 1975 he also tried his hand at Formula 1 . At his home race in Anderstorp he rode a Hesketh 308 and finished tenth, two laps behind the winner Niki Lauda in a Ferrari 312T .
At the end of the season he retired from racing and managed his compatriot Eje Elgh in the 1970s and 1980s .
