Freddy Kottulinsky (born July 20, 1932 in Munich , † May 4, 2010 in Karlstad , Sweden ; actually Winfried Philippe Adalbert Karl Graf Kottulinsky Freiherr von Kottulin ) was a racing and rally driver.

He came from an Austro-Silesian noble family, to which Maria Anna von Kottulinsky also belonged. From 1953 he lived in Sweden , where he went into business for himself with a workshop, and later in Görkwitz near Schleiz in Thuringia until 2008 . His daughter Susanne, born in 1960, was also a rally driver. Your co-driver was Tina Thörner for a time , later co-pilot of Jutta Kleinschmidt for many years .

Kottulinsky drove successfully for Sweden in Formula 3 , Formula Super Vee and Formula 2 . In 1966 he was Swedish champion in Formula 3 in a Lotus 35 - Cosworth . Together with Ronnie Peterson and Torsten Palm , he won the F3 European Cup for national teams for Sweden in 1970. In 1970 and 1971 he won the Dresden Autobahn spider . In 1974 he won the European Gold Cup in Formula Super Vee with a Lola T320 . From 1973 he also drove in rallying.

He won in 1980 with his co-driver Gerd Löffelmann Dakar rally in a four-wheel drive from Audi managed VW Iltis - SUV . The places two, four and nine were also occupied by VW Iltis. From training courses for mechanics who drove the rally service vehicles, the Audi driver safety training, for which he worked until retirement, developed.

Even at the age of more than 70, Kottulinsky occasionally took part in motorsport events. On August 11, 2006, he started the AvD -Historic-Marathon-400 on the Nordschleife of the Nürburgring with a Datsun 240Z .

Kottulinsky campaigned for the reconstruction of the “ Schleizer Dreieck ” race track . He lived in Schleiz until 2008/9 with his wife, whom he met there at a Formula 3 race. After her death he moved to his daughter in Karlstad (Sweden); therefore he drove his last year of service (his 50th in uninterrupted order) with a Swedish racing license . He died of cancer on May 4, 2010 in Karlstad and was buried in Schleiz on May 28.
