Racing license

A racing license is a permit to take part in certain competitions . Racing licenses from motorsport or cycling are known, for example . In other sports, no license is generally required for competitions , but a competition ID is often required (also called a start or race pass).

Nature of the racing license

Similar to the driving license, which is the permission to drive a car on public roads, the racing license sets the suitability of the holder to meet certain requirements. Racing licenses build on each other, higher licenses usually entitle the holder to participate in lower-ranking competitions. Racing licenses usually cover skills from several areas, e.g. physical fitness and proof of special maneuvers (in motorsport).

Cycling

According to the regulations of the World Cycling Association Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI), the racing license is issued by the national association - in Germany by the Federation of German Cyclists (BDR) - in which the applicant is domiciled. The UCI will only issue the license if there is no national association or if it does not fulfill its obligations.

Triathlon

In principle, a license is required for triathlons in which the maximum length of the everyone's triathlon and / or championships / league competitions are exceeded. To participate in mass sports events one can day license to be purchased.

A so-called start pass is only required for participation in championships and a few sports festivals. Participation in fun runs does not require a license.

Motorsport

In motorsport there are several licenses. The organization of this license tree is subject to the FIA . The international licenses, which build on the national ones and are of higher rank, are graded differently. There are A, B, C and D licenses that entitle you to participate in certain races. Formula 1 plays a special role , in which a driver is only allowed to participate as the holder of a super license created for this racing series .
