René Metge (born October 23, 1941 in Montrouge ) is a French rally driver .

Career

Metge managed in the years 1981 , 1984 and 1986 , the Paris-Dakar rally to win. Metge also took part repeatedly in the Le Mans 24-hour race , which he finished in 1986 as a class winner for the Porsche works team. He also won the first season of the Porsche 944 Turbo Cup France in 1987 . In the same year Metge started his last Le Mans race for Porsche AG, but dropped out early. In 2003 Metge was registered again, but he only drove the pre-tests in a Chrysler Viper GTS-R . However, he no longer took part in the race itself.

Although Metge no longer actively participates in races today, he has remained connected to rallying through the organization of the Rallye d'Orient and as the organizer and race director of the Africa Eco Race . Most recently he was active in motorsport as a co-driver in the Nissan team at the 2007 Dakar Rally with a placement of 22 overall cars.
