Hiroshi Fushida
Hiroshi Fushida ( Japanese 鮒 子 田 寛 , Fushida Hiroshi ; born March 10, 1946 in Kyōto , Kyōto Prefecture ) is a former Japanese racing car driver .
Career
Hiroshi Fushida began his racing career in Japan in the mid-1960s. By the end of the decade, he had become one of the most successful sports car drivers in his country. He won the Japanese endurance races , the Suzuka 1000 km race and the Fuji 1000 km race , which later became part of the sports car world championship , several times. In 1971 he secured overall victory in Suzuka together with Yoshimasa Kawaguchi in a Porsche 910 . In his home country he was one of the top drivers in the All Japan Sports Prototype Championship until the end of his career .
He came to Europe in 1975 as a works driver for Maki Engineering to drive their F101 in the Formula 1 World Championship . He was not able to qualify the vehicle for the race at either the Dutch Grand Prix or the Great Britain Grand Prix . On both occasions he was a long way behind the respective pole position time . At Zandvoort he could have taken part in the race despite the big deficit, but an engine failure prevented a start. After the race in Great Britain he was replaced by Tony Trimmer .
He was also at the start three times at the 24 Hours of Le Mans , but was unable to finish any of the races due to technical defects.
