Dave Morgan (born August 7, 1944 in Shepton Mallet , † November 6, 2018 ) was a British car racing driver and racing engineer.
Career
Dave Morgan started his racing career in 1965 on a Mini Cooper . In 1970 he switched to the British Formula 3 championship . Morgan drove some strong races on a March 703 , but the season ended on a mixed note. After a collision with James Hunt at Crystal Palace , he was banned for a full season for dangerous driving.
It was not until 1972 that he entered the Formula 2 European Championship and won the race in Mallory Park with his private Brabham . After two years in Formula Atlantic , Morgen started for the first and only time in Formula 1 at the Great Britain Grand Prix in Silverstone in 1975 . With a plant - Surtees TS16 he had an accident in the pouring rain, but was regarded as 18.
After retiring as a racing driver, Morgan worked as a racing engineer. He looked after the Belgian Eric van de Poele in Formula 3000 and Formula 1. Morgan also worked as a racing instructor in Mexico and worked as an engineer in the CART series .
