Hill or Embassy Hill was a British Formula 1 team founded by the two-time Formula 1 driver world champion Graham Hill and sponsored by the British tobacco company WD & HO Wills for the Embassy cigarette brand .
The team was registered for eleven races in the 1975 season and was able to qualify in ten races with a total of 19 racing car starts. The drivers in the Graham Hill team were Rolf Stommelen , François Migault , Tony Brise , Vern Schuppan and Alan Jones .
The team had previously appeared in 1973 and 1974 as the Shadow - and Lola - customer team , respectively .
At the end of November 1975, the Piper Aztec , which team boss Hill had bought from his prize for the Indy 500 1966 , crashed on the approach to Elstree Airport in thick fog over the village of Arkley in Hertfordshire . In addition to Hill, five other members of the Embassy Hill team were killed, among them Tony Brise, then a great British Formula 1 hope. The accident also meant the end for the racing team.
