The PC1 was he the first of the cars, which the first Penske racing cars in Formula 1974 at the Canadian Grand Prix with Mark Donohue made his race debut at the wheel, had an extreme wedge shape, side radiator and a conventional suspension. Adaptations to the track width and the suspensions did not improve the performance of the car either. Donohue struggled with the racing car for the entire 1975 season . A fifth place in the Swedish Grand Prix could not hide the weaknesses of the racing car. After the French Grand Prix of PC1 was first by a customer March replaced. Only when the US Grand Prix the car came again used before finally from 1976 by the PC3 was replaced.
