The Swingers
The Swingers were a New Zealand rock band that played from 1979 to 1982 . Their music combined elements of rock with those of jazz . Phill Jud sang and played guitar , Bones Hillman was a bass player and Ian Gilroy was a drummer. Other members were David Key and Buster Stiggs.
They had their biggest hit in 1982 with the title track from their second album Counting the Beat . It peaked at number 1 in New Zealand and Australia and also earned them album release in the United States. Nevertheless, the band could not build on the success and fell apart shortly afterwards.
