Velizy-Villacoublay is a French municipality with 22,036 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Yvelines in the region Ile-de-France . It is 13.9 km from Paris city center. Mainly large companies such as Dassault Systemes , Alcatel-Lucent , Blizzard , Microsoft or Thales can be found there . In the center is the Vélizy 2 shopping center.
The inhabitants are called Véliziens .
Surname
Originally the name only consisted of Vélizy, but in 1938 the town was officially named Vélizy-Villacoublay.

There are bus connections to the Pont de Sèvres with connection to line 9 of the Paris Métro and to Versailles . It is also possible to take the bus to Chaville and board the RER C at Chaville-Vélizy station , which goes to central Paris and Orly Airport . On December 13, 2014, the new line 6 of the Paris tram was opened, which connects Vélizy-Villacoublay with Châtillon and Montrouge , two municipalities on the Paris city limits. Line 6 ends there at the Châtillon - Montrouge metro station , from where line 13 of the Paris metro leads directly to the center of Paris. In the south of the village is the Villacoublay military airfield .
