Châtillon is a French city with 37,355 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) southwest of Paris in the Hauts-de-Seine department of the Île-de-France region . It is seven kilometers from the center of Paris. Neighboring municipalities are Bagneux , Clamart , Fontenay-aux-Roses , Malakoff and Montrouge .
The community was originally called Châtillon-sous-Bagneux .
The city is connected to the public transport network in the greater Paris area via the Châtillon - Montrouge station on Métrolinie 13 .
Châtillon is one of the bourgeois and affluent suburbs of Paris. The building fabric is dominated by older single-family houses and new apartment buildings, plus commercial spaces such as the Technicentre Atlantique SNCF Entretien TGV , the maintenance center for the TGV lines between Paris and western France, which is located on the border with the municipalities of Montrouge and Bagneux. Only in the north of the municipality are there blocks of flats that can be classified as socially hot spots. Châtillon has three Catholic and one Protestant churches, a synagogue and a mosque. Mayor has been Jean-Pierre Schosteck, who belongs to the conservative UMP , since 1983 .
