Dassault Systèmes ( DS ) is a multinational software development company with multiple seats. In Europe, the head office is in Vélizy-Villacoublay, France. The company is known for 3D design software, 3D digital mock-up and for product lifecycle management (PLM) solutions. On June 5, 1981 it was founded as a separate subsidiary of the Dassault Aviation company. Dassault Systèmes is the developer of CATIA , a CAD / CAM application, and is part of the Dassault Group .
Company history
In the course of the company's history, additional software systems from other areas of industrially used software have been added to the Dassault Systemes product portfolio. From this the company has developed the following brands:
- 3DVIA for creating interactive 3D content
- CATIA as 3D CAD / CAM software for integrated product design
- DELMIA as a solution for digital production planning, simulation and planning validation
- ENOVIA as a PDM system
- Exalead for data search and search-based applications
- Netvibes as homepage service (acquisition on February 9, 2012)
- SIMULIA as a platform for FEM simulations (e.g. Abaqus )
- SolidWorks for mechanical 3D design
- Dymola for interdisciplinary model simulation based on the Modelica model language
For a long time, the distribution of Dassault Systèmes solutions was carried out exclusively by IBM and its partners. DS has had its own sales network since 2005. In 2010 Dassault Systèmes took over the product lifecycle management division from IBM. In Germany, DS has been active on the market with its own organization since 2005, Dassault Systemes Deutschland GmbH with headquarters in Stuttgart.
In 2006 Dassault Systèmes expanded its range of solutions to include eleven industries. DS also gradually expanded the target groups within the individual industries: In line with the corporate vision of "3D for all", Dassault Systèmes develops 3D applications for everyone involved in product development - from designers to engineers to marketing, sales and service employees. In the future, the company would also like to enable end customers of the products to participate in product development via 3D applications in online communities.
The CAD software DraftSight , a AutoCAD - Clone is also sold by Dassault Systèmes.
Dassault Systèmes serves more than 200,000 customers in around 140 countries.
In June 2019, Dassault Systèmes acquired Medidata Solutions for $ 5.8 billion.
