Capgemini SE , based in Paris, is a listed consulting and IT services company and the largest management consultancy of European origin.

history

Capgemini was founded in 1967 by Serge Kampf (born October 13, 1934 in Grenoble ; † March 15, 2016) as Société pour la Gestion des Entreprises et le Traitement de l'Information ( Sogeti , German company for corporate management and data processing ). From 1973 there was a majority stake (CAP, Center d'analysis et de Programmation) and takeover (Gemini Computers Systems) and in 1975 the name was changed to CAP Gemini Sogeti . In 1985 Cap Gemini Sogeti was listed on the Paris Stock Exchange.

After further acquisitions, the group was renamed Cap Gemini in 1996 . After taking over the consulting division of Ernst & Young in 2000, the company traded as Cap Gemini Ernst & Young . The group has been operating under the name Capgemini since 2004 . Sogeti remained a sister company within the group. In April 2020, Capgemini took over the engineering service provider Altran , thereby expanding its range of services to include engineering services and technology consulting.

Companies

Capgemini operates worldwide with 211,000 employees and, according to its own information, has offices in more than 40 countries. Global sales for the 2018 financial year amounted to 13.2 billion euros. The Capgemini Group is divided into four strategic business units: Consulting Services (under the “ Capgemini Invent ” brand ) with around 10,000 management consultants worldwide, Technology Services, Outsourcing Services and Local Professional Services (under the “Sogeti” brand). At the end of 2016, there were 64,726 employees in Europe in Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Hungary, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Poland, Romania, Croatia and Russia.

Capgemini Deutschland Holding, based in Berlin, is responsible for business in Central Europe. The operative business in Germany is managed by Capgemini Deutschland GmbH, based in Berlin (the subsidiary Capgemini sd & m was also merged in 2011 ) and Capgemini Outsourcing Services GmbH, based in Düsseldorf. At the beginning of 2011 the company CS Consulting was bought with a turnover of around 50 million euros. The company is represented at several locations in Germany: Berlin, Dortmund, Düsseldorf, Erfurt, Frankfurt am Main, Hamburg, Hanover, Lahr, Lübeck, Cologne, Karlsruhe, Munich, Nuremberg and Stuttgart. In April 2015, the service provider IGATE with more than 30,000 employees was bought.

In addition to strategy consulting, Capgemini's range of services includes various IT services as well as IT and business process outsourcing.

On October 1, 2017, the company celebrated its 50th anniversary and slightly changed the brand logo on this occasion.
