Serge Kampf (born October 13, 1934 in Grenoble , † March 15, 2016 ) was a French entrepreneur . He was the founder and long-time managing director of Capgemini .

Life

Kampf studied economics at the École nationale d'administration . He began his career at Bull , a French computer manufacturer, and left the company in 1967. In the same year, he and three colleagues founded Sogeti in Grenoble.

In 1973, under his chairmanship, a majority stake in CAP (Center d'analysis et de Programmation) and a takeover of Gemini Computers Systems took place. In 1975 the name was changed to CAP Gemini Sogeti . Since 1985 Cap Gemini Sogeti has been listed on the Paris Stock Exchange. Kampf was CEO until May 23, 1996 , then President. He resigned from his position in 2012 at the age of 77. Paul Hermelin followed him . Kampf died on March 15, 2016.

Social Commitment

Kampf was the patron of the Rugby Union and a member of the French Sports Academy. His companies Capgemini and Sogeti are among the main supporters of FC Grenoble and Biarritz Olympique .

With a personal donation of 500,000 euros, he helped save the CSBJ (Bourgoin) association from bankruptcy.

A conference room at the Grenoble Institute for Neuroscience is named after him.

Awards

Serge Kampf was an honorary member of FC Grenoble Rugby and from 2009 commander of the Legion of Honor .
