history

Today's Dassault Group goes back to the Société des Avions Marcel Bloch founded in 1928 , also known as "MB" for short. This was renamed Dassault Aviation in 1947 . Founder Marcel Bloch also changed his name to Dassault in 1949. The company Dassault Breguet and Avions Marcel Dassault (AMD) were formerly used as well. Henri Deplante was technical director from 1949 to 1981 .

The company also became known worldwide through the CATIA CAD system it developed , which was later spun off into the Dassault Systèmes subsidiary .

In December 2008, the purchase of Alcatel-Lucent's shares in the Thales Group for 1.96 billion euros was contractually agreed and completed in March 2009. In the same month, the takeover of the Thales shares from Groupe Dassault was decided. Dassault Aviation thus holds 25.9 percent of the company.

In July 2009, the company delivered the 2,000th 'Falcon' business jet to a customer.
