The Dassault MD.415 Communauté was a twin-engine transport aircraft produced by the French manufacturer Dassault Aviation .
History and construction
Dassault Aviation developed the light transport aircraft MD.415 , later known as the Communauté , in the late 1950s as a potential replacement for the Dassault MD.315 Flamant in its role as a navigation trainer, transport and ambulance aircraft. The Communauté was a cantilevered low-wing aircraft with retractable nose wheel landing gear and space for two pilots and up to ten passengers. The community was powered by two Turbomeca Bastan Turboprops. The prototype (F-WJDN) flew for the first time on May 10, 1959.
The company also developed an armed version with the MD.410 spiral . The spiral was 90% identical to the community. In the case of the spiral, however, all windows were removed and a transparent bow was installed. Cannons or machine guns could be installed as armament. The lower wing stations could carry bombs or missiles. It was intended to use the IUD for close-up support, reconnaissance or as a transporter.
Neither the Communauté nor the Spiral received production orders, and the planned Spiral III , a further development designed as a high-wing aircraft, was abandoned.
Another development with components of the community was the MD-320 Hirondelle , it was Dassault's last project with propeller drive.
