The SEB SA (derived from the word S ociété d ' E mboutissage de B ourgogne , "translated Burgundy sheet metal stamping Company") is a listed manufacturer of small domestic appliances and cookware , based in Écully in Lyon . SEB is one of the leading manufacturers of small electrical appliances and household goods and is represented in over 160 countries. The company's CEO has been Thierry de La Tour d'Artaise since 2000 . SEB is part of the Euronext 100 share index .
history
The company was founded by Antoine Lescure in Selongey , France, in 1857 and was later continued by Antoine Lescure's grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In 1944 it was renamed Groupe SEB (Société d'Emboutissage de Bourgogne). It has been a public company since 1952 . It has been in the household appliance market since 1962. Were added Bought Tefal (1968), Calor and Vogalu (1972), Rowenta (1988) and other companies. Moulinex / Krups was added in 2002, and Lagostina in 2005 . In 1976 the headquarters moved from Selongey to Écully (near Lyon). In 2019, SEB took over the American coffee machine manufacturer Wilbur Curtis.
SEB in Germany
With the takeover of Rowenta in 1988, Groupe SEB also expanded to Germany. The company's German headquarters were relocated from Offenbach am Main to Frankfurt am Main in 2015 . The central customer service is located in Solingen .
In May 2016, SEB took over the household goods manufacturer Emsa . On May 23, 2016 it was announced that SEB had taken over Württembergische Metallwarenfabrik (WMF).

Groupe SEB is controlled by the two family holdings Venelle Investissement and Fédéractive, which represent the descendants of the company's founders.
