Until the end of 2014, Aflenz Land was a municipality with 1,435 inhabitants (as of October 31, 2013) in the judicial district of Bruck an der Mur and in the political district of Bruck-Mürzzuschlag in Styria . As part of the municipal structural reform in Styria , it was merged with the municipality of Aflenz Kurort on January 1, 2015 . The new municipality is called Aflenz and is still a market municipality. The basis for this is the Styrian Municipal Structural Reform Act - StGsrG.

Aflenz Land is located in northern Styria and was the neighboring municipality of Aflenz Kurort . The area of ​​the municipality of Aflenz Land was 39 square kilometers.

history

The area of ​​the municipality was part of the Duchy of Styria, which was separated from Bavaria in 1180 . Styria and Austria have been united in personal union since 1192. Since 1564 Styria and with it Aflenz belonged to Inner Austria, from 1804 to the Austrian Empire. Aflenz Land became part of the Republic of Austria founded in 1918. 1938 took place connecting Austria to the German Reich , the place belonged until 1945 to Reichsgau Styria. From 1945 to 1955 the place was part of the British occupation zone .

Aflenz Land was a member of the 2nd December 2009 Regionext-Kleinregion Hochschwab Süd , and in the LEADER region Mariazellerland-Mürz Valley .

As part of the municipal structural reform, consideration was also given to merging with Turnau (triple solution); A further merger with St. Ilgen / Etmißl / Thörl (six-solution) was also under discussion . However, none of these variants came about.
