Grove is a village and " civil parish " in the English county of Oxfordshire . It has 7,845 inhabitants (2001) and is located about 20 kilometers southwest of Oxford in the district of Vale of White Horse . The Letcombe Brook flows through Grove.

The first written mention comes from the year 1142. In the year 1840 the railway line of the Great Western Railway and the Wantage Road station were opened. In 1942 a Royal Air Force base was established . It was temporarily taken over by the United States Army Air Forces in 1943 and closed by the US Air Force in 1960 .

The place is known mainly because the Williams - Formula 1 team is headquartered here.
