Carsten Erdmann

Carsten Erdmann (born June 9, 1966 ) is a German journalist . He has been editor-in-chief for digital in the Funke central editorial office of the Funke media group since June 2018 and also heads the digital transformation department of the media company.

Professional career

From 2004 to 2018 Erdmann was editor-in-chief of the Berliner Morgenpost. Before that he worked in Hamburg for the publications Die Welt and Welt am Sonntag belonging to the Axel Springer Verlag .

Under Erdmann's direction, the Berliner Morgenpost has been awarded the Theodor Wolff Prize , the Konrad Adenauer Prize , the Guardian Prize of the German Daily Press , the German Reporter Prize and design prizes from the Society for Newsdesign and the Art Directors Club . In 2011, the Berliner Morgenpost was voted European Newspaper of the Year by an international jury.

From 2006 until the sale of the Berliner Morgenpost to the Funke Mediengruppe in May 2014, Erdmann was a member of the editors-in-chief of the joint editorial team of Die Welt, Welt am Sonntag and Berliner Morgenpost, and in 2012 was jointly responsible for the so-called online first strategy and the digital change of course the newspaper group.

Erdmann has been a member of the Board of Directors of the International News and Media Association (INMA) since 2020.
