Ocon began his motorsport career in 2006 in kart racing , in which he remained active until 2011. Among other things, he was French KF3 champion in 2011 and second in the KF3-WSK Euro Series . In 2012 he entered formula racing . He was also accepted into the Genii / Lotus funding program. For Koiranen Motorsport he took part in the Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup . Third place was his best result. While his team mate Daniil Kwjat was runner-up, Ocon reached 14th place overall. He also took part in some Alpine Formula Renault races for Koiranen . With two third places he finished seventh in the drivers' standings. In 2013 Ocon switched to the ART Junior Team within the Formula Renault championships . With two wins and three second places, he was on the podium five times in the Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup. He improved to third place in the overall standings. In addition, he again took part in some Alpine Formula Renault races. There he was with a win on the twelfth championship course. Ocon also made his Formula 3 debut in 2013 . He initially took part as a guest starter in a race in the MSV F3 Cup , a British amateur Formula 3 championship. He then received a cockpit for the Macau Grand Prix with the Prema Powerteam .
In 2014 Ocon switched to the European Formula 3 championship . He started for the Prema Powerteam. At the first race weekend at Silverstone , he was on the podium in each of the three races and scored one victory. He won other races in Hockenheim , Pau , Mogyoród , Wolokolamsk and Imola . In Wolokolamsk, he decided every race for himself. Ocon won the championship title early on the penultimate race weekend. With 478 points he was at the end of the season ahead of Tom Blomqvist , who had scored 420 points. As a reward for winning the Formula 3 title, Ocon was given the opportunity to test two-year-old Formula 1 cars from Lotus and Ferrari . He convinced both teams. Ocon then made his Formula 1 weekend debut for Lotus in free practice at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix . In 2014 Ocon also took part in four Formula Renault 3.5 races for Comtec Racing .
Ocon originally planned to switch to the GP2 series for 2015 , but this did not materialize. Instead, Ocon competed in the 2015 ART Grand Prix in the GP3 series . Already in the first race in Barcelona he achieved the only victory. From the 6th to the 14th race, Ocon achieved nine second places in a row. Ocon was only four times not on the podium and won the championship with 253 to 245 points ahead of Luca Ghiotto . He was also active as a test and replacement driver for Mercedes in the DTM and as a test driver for Force India in Formula 1. At the 2015 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix , he was introduced as a new member of the Mercedes sponsorship program.

In 2016 Ocon stayed at ART Grand Prix and switched to the DTM as a regular driver. There he succeeded Lucas Auer , who had received a cockpit at HWA . At the first race at Zandvoort he scored points in the DTM for the first time in ninth place. He then left the DTM and handed over his cockpit to Felix Rosenqvist . In the 2016 Formula 1 World Championship , Ocon then competed. After taking part in free training sessions as a Renault test driver and doing test drives for Mercedes , he was given a Formula 1 racing cockpit at Manor from the Belgian Grand Prix . He replaced Rio Haryanto there and became a teammate of Pascal Wehrlein , who, like Ocon, was promoted by Mercedes. Ocon chose the number 31 as his permanent Formula 1 starting number. Twelfth place in Brazil was his best result.
For the 2017 Formula 1 World Championship , Ocon moved to Force India and became Sergio Pérez's team-mate . At the season opener in Australia , he scored his first point in tenth. At the end of the season he finished eighth overall. In 2018 , Ocon stayed with Force India. During the summer break, Racing Point took over the starting position and the Force India team. In the first race for the newly formed team in Belgium , Ocon finished sixth. At the end of the season he was twelfth in the drivers' world championship.
