The European Formula 3 Championship 2012 (officially FIA European Formula 3 Championship ) was the eleventh season of the European Formula 3 Championship and the first since 1984. It began on April 28 at the Hockenheimring Baden-Württemberg and ended there on April 21 October. Ten events with two races each were held.
background
The one-time FIA Formula 3 trophy was discontinued for the 2012 season and replaced by the European Formula 3 championship. All events of the European Formula 3 Championship belonged to either the Formula 3 Euro Series or the British Formula 3 Championship . The European champion received a test drive at the Ferrari Formula 1 racing team as a bonus . The second and third were given a test opportunity in the DTM .
All drivers who drove a Formula 3 car of the current generation and competed as regular drivers in the Formula 3 Euro Series were entitled to points.

Racing calendar
The racing calendar included ten events with two races each. The event at the Norisring was part of the Formula 3 Euro Series and the British Formula 3 Championship . It was held for the DTM supporting program . In addition, seven events were part of the Formula 3 Euro Series, which were part of the DTM supporting program. The events in Pau and Spa-Francorchamps , where the Grand Prix de Pau and the Blancpain Endurance Series were the main events, were part of the British Formula 3 championship.

In each race, the first ten of the race got 25, 18, 15, 12, 10, 8, 6, 4, 2 and 1 point (s) respectively.

- In the second race at the Norisring , only half points were awarded because the race was stopped prematurely and the distance required to obtain full points had not been completed.
