Hannes van Asseldonk (born January 10, 1992 in Boekel ) is a former Dutch racing driver .

Career

Van Asseldonk began his motorsport career in 2007 in kart racing , in which he was active until 2009. In 2010 he switched to formula racing and competed for Josef Kaufmann Racing in the European Formula BMW . With two third places as the best results, he finished the season in seventh place in the championship. In addition, van Asseldonk competed for Prema Junior in Formula Abarth . He took part in six of fourteen races and won three races. He finished sixth in the drivers' championship. On average, he had more points per race than the champion Brandon Maïsano . He also made two guest starts in the Pacific Formula BMW.

In 2011 van Asseldonk switched to the German Formula 3 Cup for Van Amersfoort Racing . With five third places as the best results, he finished the season in fifth place overall. Against his teammate Richie Stanaway , who became champion, he clearly lost the team-internal duel with 61 to 181 points. In addition, van Asseldonk took part in four races of the 2011 FIA Formula 3 Trophy . He finished the Macau Grand Prix in fifth place. He also took part in two races of the Austrian Formula 3 and scored one victory. At the beginning of 2012 van Asseldonk competed for Giles Motorsport in the Toyota Racing Series , New Zealand's highest monoposto series. He won three races and was on the podium a total of eight times. With 738 to 914 points he finally lost to his teammate Nick Cassidy and became runner-up. He then moved to Fortec Motorsport in the British Formula 3 Championship and competed for the entire 2012 season . With a second place as the best result, he was ninth overall. In addition, he took part in the Formula 3 Masters and finished in third place.

At the beginning of 2013 van Asseldonk announced the end of his motorsport career.
