British Formula 3 Championship 2012
The British Formula 3 Championship 2012 was the 62nd season of the British Formula 3 Championship . It comprised a total of ten race weekends with three races each. It began on April 7th in Oulton Park and ended on September 30th in Donington Park .
Rule changes
technical changes
From the 2012 season, a new chassis, the Dallara F312 , will be introduced in the British Formula 3 championship . The previous Dallara F308 chassis can be used in the rookie class.
Sporting changes
In 2012 the same point system was used for every race. The first race lasted 30 minutes, the second 20 and the third 40 minutes. At the Grand Prix de Pau , the first two races were 10 minutes longer. The starting grid for the second race was based on the reverse grid procedure, which means that the first positions started in reverse order. The pole position for this race was drawn from among the drivers in positions eight and twelve.

Racing calendar
The preliminary racing calendar for the 2012 season was published on November 7, 2011. Ten events with three races each were held. The race weekend in Pau , where only two races took place, was an exception . The racing series did not return to the Nürburgring and Le Castellet this season . Instead, drove the British Formula 3 at the Circuit de Pau in the French Pau and Norisring in German Nuremberg . Six races were held in the UK .
Six races took place together with the British GT Championship , the series also drove twice as part of the Blancpain Endurance Series and once each as part of the Grand Prix de Pau and the DTM .
The race weekends in Pau, Spa-Francorchamps and Silverstone should be part of the 2012 FIA Formula 3 trophy . The events in Nuremberg, Pau and Spa-Francorchamps were also part of the European Formula 3 championship in 2012 . In Nuremberg they also competed together with the Formula 3 Euro Series .

Point system
The first ten of each race were awarded points according to the scheme 20-15-12-10-8-6-4-3-2-1 points. In addition, the driver who drove the fastest lap in a class received a bonus point.
