Adderly Fong ( Chinese  方 駿 宇 , W.-G. Fong Chun-Yu ; born March 2, 1990 in Vancouver , Canada ) is a Hong Kong - Chinese racing car driver . He started in the GP3 series from 2013 to 2015 .

Career

Fong began his motorsport career in formula racing in 2006. He started in the Asian Formula Renault Challenge and finished 22nd overall. He also made his debut in the Asian Formula Renault V6. He competed in two races and finished the season in third place in eleventh place. In 2007 he contested the entire season in the Asian Formula Renault V6. With a second place he finished sixth.

In 2008 Fong moved to Europe and started in the German Formula 3 Cup . He went without points in his first season. He also made guest starts in the Asian Formula Renault Challenge. After he had started in some races of the New Zealand Toyota Racing Series in winter 2008/2009 and was 13th in the overall standings, he returned to the German Formula 3 Cup. With a fifth place as the best result, he finished 16th overall.

In 2010 Fong moved to the British Formula 3 Championship . After he had remained without points for almost the entire season, he achieved his first point placement at the season finale with a fourth place. He finished the season in 16th place overall. He then took part in a race weekend of the Superleague Formula for by Atech and Reid who supervised team PSV Eindhoven in part. In 2011 Fong contested his second season in the British Formula 3 Championship for Sino Vision Racing. A seventh place was his best result and he finished 22nd in the drivers' championship. He also took part in the Macau Grand Prix .

In 2012 Fong moved to the Auto GP World Series for Ombra Racing . He became the first Chinese pilot in this series. He participated in two events and a seventh place was his best result. At the end of the season he finished 21st overall. He also returned to the rookie class of British Formula 3 for three events and made his debut in the Indy Lights . In addition to his involvement in formula racing , Fong also took part in GT brand cups in 2012 . He finished second behind Marchy Lee in the Chinese Audi R8 LMS Cup and 20th in the Asian Porsche Carrera Cup . For the 2013 season , Fong received a full-time cockpit in the GP3 series at Status Grand Prix . As the best full-time pilot in his racing team, he finished the season in 21st place overall. He skipped an event due to an overlap with his involvement in GT racing. In 2013 he continued to compete in the Chinese Audi R8 LMS Cup and the Asian Porsche Carrera Cup. He won the Chinese Audi R8 LMS Cup. In 2014 Fong completed his second GP3 season for Jenzer Motorsport . He got out of the series without any points after the fourth race weekend. At the end of the season he was 24th overall. In formula racing , Fong also took part in free practice in Formula 1 at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix for Sauber . In GT racing, Fong was once again active in the Chinese Audi R8 LMS Cup in addition to starting individual events. He reached sixth place in the drivers' championship. In 2014 , Fong also made his debut for OAK Racing in an LMP2 car at the Le Mans 24 Hours . In 2015 Fong moved to Koiranen GP within the GP3 series . He skipped two race weekends and started the last event for Carlin . He was 23rd in the drivers' championship. He also became a development driver for the Lotus Formula 1 team .

Personal

Fong was born in Canada. In racing, he mainly competes with a Chinese racing license. In addition, he has already completed races with a racing license from Hong Kong and Canada.
