Luís Felipe Derani
Luís Felipe "Pipo" Derani (born October 12, 1993 in São Paulo ) is a Brazilian racing car driver . In 2015 he started in the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC).
Career
Derani began his motorsport career in karting in 2003 and was active in this sport until 2008. Among other things, he was Brazilian junior runner-up in 2007. In 2009 he joined the Formula racing and went for Motopark Academy in the Northern European Formula Renault at. With two second places as the best results, he finished the season in seventh place overall. He also competed for the team in the Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup for six races and was 27th in the overall standings. In 2010 Derani switched to the German Formula 3 Cup within the team . With two fourth places as the best results, he finished tenth in the drivers' standings. He also took part in six GT races of the Brazilian GT3 championship in the two years .
In 2011 Derani moved to Double R Racing in the British Formula 3 Championship . With a second place as the only place on the podium, he ended the season in 15th place in the overall standings. In 2012 Derani competed in British Formula 3 for Fortec Motorsport . He achieved his first British Formula 3 victory at the start of the season. With a total of two victories, Derani was eighth in the drivers' championship. He also made three guest starts in the Formula 3 Euro Series .
In early 2013 Derani took part in the Toyota Racing Series for Giles Motorsport . With a win he finished the overall ranking in seventh place. He then received a cockpit for the European Formula 3 championship in 2013 at Fortec . Two second places were his best results. As the best driver of his team, he was eighth overall at the end of the season. In addition, Derani came third at the Macau Grand Prix .
In 2014 Derani moved to the North American Pro Mazda Championship for Team Pelfrey . First he was fifth in the winter series. Derani left the main series after the sixth race. Third place was his best result. Derani then returned to Europe. In formula racing , he made three guest starts in the German Formula 3 Cup . In addition, he made his first experiences in endurance racing and competed for Murphy Prototypes in two races in the European Le Mans Series (ELMS). With a third place as the best result, he finished the season in twelfth place in the LMP2 drivers' standings. In 2015 Derani received a cockpit for the G-Drive Racing team, which is supported by OAK Racing , in the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC). At the 6-hour race in Spa-Francorchamps , he and his team-mates Ricardo González and Gustavo Yacamán achieved a class win in the LMP2 world championship. The three drivers reached 13th place overall.
