The logo of the racing series
The FIA World Endurance Championship 2018/19 (officially from 2018 to 2019 FIA World Endurance Championship ) was the seventh season of the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC). The season consisted of eight races. It began on May 5, 2018 in Spa-Francorchamps and ended on June 16, 2019 in Le Mans .
The so-called "super season" spanned two calendar years for the first time. The highlight of the season, the Le Mans 24-hour race , was held twice.
Rule changes
Some rules have been adjusted for the super season.
Point system
The BR01 used by SMP and DragonSpeed
24 hours of Le Mans
In Le Mans, double points were no longer awarded in the super season (50,36,30,24,20,16,12,8,4,2) as in 2017, but (38,27,23,18,15 , 12,9,6,3,2).
1000 miles from Sebring
A new point calculation was also used for the newly introduced race in Sebring. Points were now distributed according to the scheme 32,23,19,15,13,10,8,5,3,2. The race is run for 1000 miles or 8 hours, whichever comes first.
Punish
At the beginning of the 2017/18 season, each driver received 12 penalty points. A driver can be deducted up to 6 points per race for unsportsmanlike conduct. If a driver has used up all of his 12 points, he will be banned from a race.
Pit stops
It will again be allowed to change tires during the refueling process. In addition, it will again be possible to use 2 impact wrenches at the same time.

criticism
The 6-hour race in Fuji was held from October 21. on October 14th postponed because Fernando Alonso is not at home race for Toyota could have taken part since the old appointment with the US Grand Prix of Formula 1 would collide. However, the new date collides with the Petit Le Mans in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship . Some drivers take part in both racing series, e.g. B. Mike Conway , Bruno Senna , Renger van der Zande , Harry Tincknell and Olivier Pla .

Remarks
↑ a b c d e f g h i j Dempsey-Proton Racing in Fuji was disqualified due to an offense at the flow restrictor of the tank system. Furthermore, the drivers were deprived of all points from the previous races.
This measure also included the revocation of some points from the Porsche works team that it had collected at Silverstone.
