Luís Pérez Companc (born January 2, 1972 in Buenos Aires ) is an Argentine entrepreneur, racing car driver and racing team owner.

Career

Luís Pérez Companc comes from a wealthy Argentine family. He is next to his brother Pablo Pérez Companc of eight children of a Gregorio Perez Companc , the according to the Forbes - list of billionaires richest Argentine. His father collected historic racing vehicles. Among others who belonged Ferrari 330TRI , the winning car of Phil Hill and Olivier Gendebien from the 1962 24 Hours of Le Mans to this collection

Rallying

Pérez Companc started international rallying and taking part in the Argentina Rally in 2001 after having participated in national events . Financed with family capital, he only drove a few races in the following years. In 2005 he got a works contract with the Ford World Rally Team , contested the world championship races in New Zealand and Argentina and won the overall ranking of the Argentinian rally championship.

In 2006 , 2007 and 2008 he competed in the World Rally Championship in the Ford Focus RS WRC for privately run Ford WRC teams. The best place was the fifth place at the 2007 Rally Japan .

Sports car racing

During his final year as a rally driver, Pérez Companc began sports car racing. Once again he was able to use the enormous family fortune to finance the races. He did not own a racing team in the classic sense. He acquired the racing cars and financed spare parts and races, most of which were taken over by the AF Corse racing team .

In 2008 he registered a Ferrari F430 GT in the FIA GT Championship . His compatriot Matías Russo was his cockpit partner . The team achieved the best result of the year in the last race of the season, the 2-hour race in San Luis , with victory in the GT2 class and sixth place. They finished eleventh in the season standings in the GT2 class.

In 2009 the duo climbed to the sixth final in the GT2 class. In the same year he made his debut at the 12 Hours of Sebring and the 24 Hours of Le Mans . In Sebring he finished eighth overall in 2009 and seventh in 2012 . He has competed five times at Le Mans so far; best placement was the ninth final place in 2012 .

With the start of the FIA World Endurance Championship in 2012 , Luís Pérez Companc moved his activities to this racing series, in which he was regularly registered until the end of the 2014 season .
