The FIA -Langstrecken World Cup in 2012 (officially 2012 FIA World Endurance Championship ) was the first season of the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC). The FIA World Endurance Championship succeeded the Intercontinental Le Mans Cup .
Regulations
The FIA World Endurance Championship adopted the rules of the Automobile Club de l'Ouest (ACO) for LMP and GTE vehicles. In the LMP1 class, world championship titles were awarded to drivers and manufacturers.

LMP1
- Remarks
- In January 2012, Peugeot Sport Total announced that the team was withdrawing from the sports car scene with immediate effect. This means that the French works team will neither take part in the endurance world championship nor in the Le Mans 24-hour race .

- Remarks
- ↑ OAK Racing drove with starting number 35 from the third race, with starting number 24 from the fourth race with Nissan engines.

Racing calendar
The racing calendar was approved by the FIA on December 7, 2011 . There was one race each in North and South America and three races each in Europe and Asia .
Ratings
Drivers world championship
The drivers in the World Endurance Championship were awarded the points according to the following system. In addition, there was a bonus point for the drivers who were on pole position in their class. All vehicles that were evaluated received 0.5 points. At the highlight of the season, the Le Mans 24-hour race, double points were awarded.

- Gianmaria Bruni , Giancarlo Fisichella and Toni Vilander have the 12-hour race at Sebring get no bonus point for pole position in the LMGTE Pro class.
