Thomas Holzer (born December 27, 1985 in Augsburg ) is a German racing driver .

family

Thomas Holzer is the son of Ronald Holzer , who, together with his brother Günther Holzer, founded the Holzer Group in 1986 , which in addition to the motor vehicle trade and tuning company also operated a motorsport racing team. His cousin Marco and Nicole Holzer are also active in motorsport. Thomas trained as a car mechanic in his parents' company.

Career in motorsport

Thomas Holzer started karting at the age of 12 . At the age of 16, he drove his first Formula BMW race in 2001 . The 2002 season he finished sixth overall. The later Formula 1 world champion Nico Rosberg became the champion . At the German Formula 3 championships in 2003 and 2004, Holzer finished seventh overall and fifth overall. After an unsuccessful year in the Formula 3 Euro Series in 2005 , where he failed to score points in 20 races for his father's racing team, a six-year break from racing followed.

In 2011 he returned to the racetracks with Heico Motorsport and drove a Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG in the ADAC GT Masters . In 2012 and 2013 he drove for Colin Kolles' team in the FIA World Endurance Championship , making his debut at the 24 Hours of Le Mans and the 12 Hours of Sebring . The operations were made possible by the connection between Kolles and Holzer Motorsport. At Holzer, not only was the HRT F112 set up for the HRT F1 team led by Kolles, Holzer was also involved in the preparation of the Kolles team's endurance racing .

After the collaboration with Kolles ended, Holzer switched to rallying in 2014 . Thomas Holzer has not contested any races since the end of the 2015 season.
