São Paulo 6-hour race 2012
The 6-hour race of São Paulo 2012 , also 6h de Sao Paulo, Interlagos , took place on September 15 at the Autódromo José Carlos Pace and was the fifth round of the FIA World Endurance Championship this year.
The race
The race at Interlagos ended with the first race win a Toyota - Le Mans prototype in the history of the FIA World Endurance Championship. After the pole position by Alexander Wurz , the car with the number 7 was also the fastest vehicle in the race. Together with partner Nicolas Lapierre , Wurz drove a one-minute lead over the Audi R18 e-tron quattro of André Lotterer , Benoît Tréluyer and Marcel Fässler to the checkered flag . Due to the improved fuel efficiency of the TS030 Hybrid , the difference in range to Audi between refueling stops was no longer as striking as in the 6-hour race at Silverstone . By saving a pit stop , Wurz and Lapierre were able to use a racing tactic similar to that of the Audis from Joest Racing .
