Christian Ried (born February 24, 1979 in Biberach an der Riss ) is a German racing driver and entrepreneur.
Entrepreneur
Christian Ried is the son of Gerold Ried , the 1996 PROTON Competition Vehicle rental founded, dedicated to the maintenance and rental of Porsche - GT racing vehicles engaged in national and international race series. Christian Ried now runs the company together with his brother Michael.
Under the name Proton Competition , the company is also active as a racing team in international motorsport and has been able to demonstrate a wealth of successes since its first races in 1996. The team has been handling the races of Patrick Dempsey and Dempsey Racing as well as Abu Dhabi Racing in the FIA World Endurance Championship since 2015 .
Racing career
Ried began his career as a driver in 1996 in the Global GT Championship . In 1999 he competed in the FIA GT Championship and finished eighth with his father in the 500 km race in Zolder and in the 500 km race in Zhuhai . From the 2000 season , the races in this championship also included starts in the American Le Mans Series . In 2004 and 2005 he was seventh overall in the N-GT class and GT2 class of the FIA GT championship.
His greatest international success that he was able to achieve in a racing series is second overall in the GTE class of the European Le Mans Series 2013 .
Christian Ried competed in the Daytona 24-hour race as well as in the Le Mans 24-hour race and the Sebring 12-hour race . In Sebring in 2012 , he also achieved class victory in the GT amateur standings with 27th place. In 2018 he achieved another class win at Le Mans.
