Klaus Bachler (racing driver)

Klaus Bachler (born July 27, 1991 in Judenburg ) is an Austrian racing driver . He competed in the German Porsche Carrera Cup in 2012 .

Career

After Bachler began his motorsport career in karting at the age of nine and had been active in this sport for several years, he made his debut in formula racing in 2006 and finished 14th in the Formula Lista junior . In 2007 he competed for Neuhauser Racing in the Formula Lista Junior and won the championship title with five victories. In 2008 Bachler switched to the newly founded ADAC Formula Masters with Neuhauser Racing . He won two races in his debut season and made six podiums. In 2009 the racing driver contested his second season in the ADAC Formula Masters for URD Rennsport . He won three races this year and finished a total of ten races among the top three drivers. In the championship he was runner-up behind Daniel Abt with 188 to 224 points .

In 2010 Bachler planned to switch to the German Formula 3 Cup and was already under contract with URD Rennsport. However, Bachler was seriously injured during test drives that took place shortly before the season opener at the Hockenheimring . Due to a braking defect, he hit the barrier at high speed and broke three vertebrae and an ankle. He returned to motorsport at the season finale in Oschersleben . With two fifth places, he finished 15th in the drivers' standings. In 2011 Bachler stayed with URD Rennsport in the German Formula 3. He achieved two wins and seven podium positions and finished the season in third place overall.

In 2012 Bachler switched to GT racing. He was accepted into Porsche 's sponsorship program and competed in the German Porsche Carrera Cup . Starting for Tolimit Motorsport , he achieved a podium finish with a third place and finished his debut season in eighth place. His team mates René Rast and Sean Edwards occupied the first two positions. In addition, Bachler took part in two races of the Porsche Supercup as a guest starter. In 2013 he stayed in the Porsche support program and started as a regular driver in the Porsche Supercup.
