Matteo Cairoli (born June 1, 1996 in Como ) is an Italian racing driver .

Racing career

As with so many racing drivers of his generation, Matteo Cairoli began his career in karting . He came to this form of motorsport through the mediation of his friend Michele Beretta , who was able to convince Cairoli's father to get his son involved. However, he switched very quickly to monoposto racing and, after a four-day driver course, competed in the Italian Formula Renault 2.0 championship in 2012 . He finished this championship after four appearances in 13th place overall. In the following year he was overall seventh in the German Formula 3 Cup (Champion Marvin Kirchhöfer ). In 2014 , in addition to five appearances in the Italian Formula 4 championship, he also competed in the Italian Porsche Carrera Cup , where he finished the season as overall winner.

This success earned him a contract as a young Porsche driver. As a works driver, he took part in races in the Porsche Carrera Cup Germany , the European Le Mans Series and the FIA World Endurance Championship . In 2017 he made his debut at the 24 Hours of Le Mans . For Dempsey-Proton Racing he drove a Porsche 911 RSR together with Christian Ried and Marvin Dienst to 34th place in the final ranking.
