The Italian Formula 4 Championship (officially Italian F.4 Championship powered by Abarth ) is an automobile racing series based on the FIA - Formula 4 regulations in Italy . The Italian Formula 4 Championship was held for the first time in 2014 .

The Italian Formula 4 championship is organized by the Automobile Club d'Italia (ACI).

history

After the FIA decided to introduce Formula 4 regulations in 2013, the Automobile Club d'Italia became the first motorsport association to announce a Formula 4 championship for 2014 . The Italian Formula 4 championship replaced the Italian Formula Abarth and took over the chassis and engine manufacturer from the previous series. The series was promoted by WSK Promotions , which are mainly active in the field of karting .

Course of the race weekend

There are two free training sessions, each lasting 40 minutes. The qualifying consists of two 15-minute sections. The first and third races run over a distance of 28 minutes + 1 lap, the second race lasts 18 minutes + 1 lap.

vehicle

In the Italian Formula 4 championship, the Tatuus F4-T014 chassis is used with an Abarth 1.4 liter T-jet engine. The tires are from Pirelli .

particularities

In the second race of a race weekend, the points will be distributed to the first eight drivers, in deviation from the standard points scheme according to the scheme 13-11-9-6-5-4-2-1.

In the first season there was an upper age limit for the drivers' classification. The drivers were not allowed to have been born until the year 18 years before the current season at the earliest. Drivers who were at least 18 years old before the start of the year were eligible for the Trophy class. The distinction was lifted for the second season.

Since the second season there has been an additional classification in addition to the championship classification - the Woman Trophy , in which only the results of the participating drivers are counted.
