The French Formula 4 Championship is an automobile racing series in France . Since the year 2018, the racing series is after the FIA - Formula 4 held -Reglement.

history

The French Formula Renault with 1.6 liter engines has been using the name Championnat de France F4 since 2011 . The racing series is open to drivers between 14 and 21 years of age. All drivers are looked after by the Fédération française du sport automobile (FFSA) organization, so there are no teams. In September 2017, the FFSA announced that it would take over the FIA regulations from Formula 4 for the 2018 season and thus become an FIA-certified racing series. The series moves away from the sphere of influence of Renault Sport, the three best-placed drivers will still be offered a place in the Renault Sport Academy after the championship.

vehicle

From 2011 onwards, a chassis from the French manufacturer Signatech Automobiles called "Formula Academy" was used.

For the 2018 season, the Formula 4 chassis from the French manufacturer Mygale , with a Renault 2.0L F4R engine, will be used in the French Formula 4 championship . The tires are provided by Kumho .
