Marcus Armstrong (born July 29, 2000 in Christchurch , New Zealand ) is a New Zealand racing driver . He starts for the ART Grand Prix team in the FIA Formula 2 Championship .

Career

He won the Italian Formula 4 Championship in 2017 . In 2018 he contested his first season in the European Formula 3 championship . In 2019 he contested his first season with the Prema Powerteam in the newly founded FIA Formula 3 Championship 2019 . At the end of the season he was in second place overall and lost 212 to 185 to his teammates Robert Shwartzman . In 2020 he will compete in the FIA Formula 2 Championship for the ART Grand Prix as a team-mate of Christian Lundgaard .

Armstrong is a member of the Ferrari Driver Academy .
