Circuit de Pau-Ville
The Circuit de Pau-Ville is a temporary 2760 meter long racetrack in downtown Pau in southwest France , on which the Grand Prix de Pau is held. The distinction “Ville” (city) has been added since the permanent test and racing track Circuit Pau-Arnos exists a good 20 km away from the city .
The street circuit was first established in 1933 and is driven clockwise . By 1963, eleven Formula 1 races were held in Pau , but they were not part of the world championship. After that, Formula 2 races and the Formula 3000 European Championship took place until 1998 . International Formula 3 races have been held since 1999 . From 2007 to 2009 the World Touring Car Championship was a guest.
The Circuit de Pau is the oldest street circuit in the world that was used in its original form.
