The Circuit du Lac was a temporary street circuit in Aix-les-Bains , on which both motorcycle races and car races were held between 1949 and 1961 .
The route led through the city center of Aix-les-Bains, a spa town in the Savoie department in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region . It was driven on a 2,400 meter long circuit. From 1949 to 1953 the Grand Prix du Lac - a Formula 2 race - was held here five times in a row . 1949 won Eugène Martin on a Jicey-BMW and a year later Raymond Sommer in a plant - Ferrari 166F2 . In 1951 the victory went to the Swiss Rudolf Fischer in a privately entered Ferrari 212F2 . In 1952 Jean Behra won on a Gordini T16 . The last Formula 2 race in Aix-les-Bains ended with a victory for Élie Bayol in an Osca 20 . In 1960 there was another Formula Junior race. After that, the route was no longer used for motor racing.
